REACH
REACH is a new European chemicals regulation that will require chemicals producers to provide data to the European Chemicals Agency on their substances to demonstrate that they are being safely produced and used.
DINP is data rich and ready for REACH. The plasticiser industry already started preparing for the implementation of the new European chemicals legislation (REACH) well before its entry into force in June 2007.
Drawing upon experience from previous regulatory processes, the plasticiser industry has formed expert groups from member companies of the European Council for Plasticisers and Intermediates (ECPI) to examine the provisions of the legislation in detail. These groups have been tasked with the elaboration and implementation of roadmaps for ensuring a smooth passage for DINP and other plasticisers through the system.
The EU concluded in its risk assessment of DINP that it does not require classification and labelling of DINP for reproductive effects, nor is DINP hazardous under any other EU classification categories.
